Statement
I used to work with dream
images appearing often as I woke up in the morning.
Some were clear, immediate,
and some vague and hiding behind a fog. The repetition of circles, lines in grids of layers and colours became a
metaphor for myself, human attachment, groups of people and communities in ever
changing relationships.I started from a basic drawing and then following the paint on the canvas
to the unknown of my inner and outer worlds in constant interaction. In
May 2009, I curated the first Green Art Open Exhibition in Hebden
Bridge as part of the Big Green Weekend. This inspired a new direction
in my work , exploring lines.That year, I also went to Cornwall in the summer and felt very inspired by the
landscape and the local artists. I did a lot of small drawings which
have become paintings exploring further lines and colours.I
am now painting with natural products ( egg, pigments, glue, clay
paints) wanting to commit myself to a sustainable way of creating Art.
In May 2008, I moved my studio to 59 Steps Art Studios at Melbourne Mill, Melbourne Street in Hebden Bridge.
In
February 2009 I moved to Northlight Studios on Valley Road where I take part every
year in the Open Studios on the first weekend of July and December.
