A middle-class family from Trenton New Jersey go on vacation and accidentally leave their taken-for-granted housewife/mother behind. Through a series of amusing events she finds herself in New Orleans where she encounters a series of gentile, off centre characters. Among these people, her happiness re-awakens and she finds romance.
