The Barn is home to an eclectic group of old and interesting cars. We welcome all motoring enthusiasts who like to use their classic vehicles for touring. For guests in our Self Catering Apartment there is ample off-road parking, and in some circumstances (very valuable or vintage cars) we may even be able to provide stabling. A Mixed Bunch of mostly Citroens - our small collection currently comprises: 1975 Citroen Dyane 6 - Hilly bought Orangina from our good friend and 2CV expert Steve Hill in 1992. This car is still in pretty good nick but is currently 'resting'. We're rarely without a baby Citroen on the road (very practical and a hoot to drive) and in 2000 bought Lemongina, a 1980 Dyane 6. She now has one of the famous Louis Barbour 4WD conversions, so she can go virtually anywhere! Currently undergoing body rebuild. Find out more about the small Citroen scene in the UK at 2CVGB 1977 Citroen Ami 8 Convertible - having originally been converted in France, reputedly for a certain french car magazine publisher, in 2004/05 it underwent comprehensive restoration here, incorporation major modification to stiffen the body and make the top keep the worst of the british weather out - the previous hood was little more than a sun-canopy with no sides! Undertook a 2-week 2000 mile family trip to the south of France Easter '06, to visit various "old car" friends. (photo shows Ami Cabrio at Floors Castle near Kelso, during the 2CV World Meeting in 2005). See more Ami Cabrio pictures Ugly Bug Fiat Multipla, replaced the VW Camper a few years ago. It is the only people carrier (6 seats and very short / easy to park) available with any really original thought inherent in its design. Hilly says she hates it (interior by Fisher Price etc.), but she's slowly coming round, and 50 mpg (diesel) is nice. It's not old, but it is interesting and great to drive (like a huge Mini - but you can see over hedges). 1964 Citroen ID Safari. Unique Slough-built estate. Later, wooden dashboard type. Acquired in 1995, her survival can be largely attributed to meticulous care by her owner from 1965 - 1992. With rebuilt engine, Aphrodite carried the family in extreme comfort 2,500 miles to the 2CV World Meeting in Austria and back in 2001. In July 04 we got her back from Dave Ashworths Citroen garage in Blackpool, bodily restored plus shiney new paint. With a new set of Michelins on freshly powder coated wheels she promptly went off on a 2000 mile trip around several european countries, taking in the international Citroen meeting at Interlaken in Switzerland, where she was fitted with a 123 electronic distributor. Late in 2006 she had a major front end overhaul with new hydraulic pump, rack, steering links, etc.. In August '07 the family had a supremely comfortable few days pottering around Northern France - and the usual interest in the car led to several nostalgic chats with locals (you never see DS Breaks in France now, not even the later 'shark-nose' type). 1960 MGA (modified). Bought by Dan in 1979 as the proverbial pile of bits (most missing!) and rebuilt over an 11 year(?) period. MGB 1800 engine and o/drive box. uprated suspension and brakes. Has toured extensively. Fast (although not by modern standards) and uncomfortable but fun. Living with a friend at the moment. On the Button . . . the Old Cars page button. DRK 3-Wheeler - aluminium and timber bodied Renault Special, assembled by Dan in 1987 from a high quality kit. One of about 60 in existence. Used to be dark blue and travelled to Germany and LeMans in the late 80's. Back on the road in '02 after long rebuild and colour change. Fast & Scary, and the mudguard stays crack, but you get hooked. Our Tom (age 10 this year) and I are now planning a future European trip on 3 wheels, taking in the Stelvio Pass (after seeing it on Top Gear). See some more photos 1975 Citroen GS 1220 Club Estate. This incredible car was purchased from a friend in the Citroen Car Club in late 2007 with 29,000 miles. A complete time warp in bright Orange Tenere (same as Hillys '75 Dyane), the whole interior is bright orange as well! See the pictures . . . 1972 Renault R4. Not ours, although Dan would dearly like it. Belongs to our friend Peter, who wants to sell it (offers around £2000) or swop it for a faster R4 GTL (with the 1100 engine). It's a little gem, and quite rare in RHD with the full length sunroof. Just had 4 new wings (and new inner fronts); very pretty in warm brick red.
