Around Heaton Park

Some of the things you may be interested in at Heaton Park.

Heaton Hall

Heaton Hall, designed in 1772 for Sir Thomas Egerton by architect James Wyatt, contains a collection of period furniture, paintings and musical instruments. There is also an exhibition on Park Life. We recommend you have a look round - it opens at 11am with free admission.

The Temple

Just a couple of minutes away up the hill is this small folly building on the highest spot in Manchester. There are excellent views in all directions, from Manchester city centre and the Pennine Hills in the south, to Peel Tower (near Ramsbottom) and the Scout Moor Wind Farm in the north. Bring your binoculars!

The Lake

The lake is a 5 minute walk away from the Hall and Orangery. Weather permitting you can hire a rowing boat but don't forget you've got a wedding to go to!
